Cold Blast to bring snow + GET YOUR FROST RISK

Autumn has firmly settled in, marking its presence with a sharp cold front set to reach the lower South Island tomorrow. This front will advance northward through the morning, enveloping many regions in periods of rain or showers. By late afternoon or early evening, it is expected to reach the lower North Island.

SNOW:

The airmass in the South Island is set to bring in cold temperatures, leading to a dusting of snow in the higher South Island Hills, Ski Fields, and mountains. Southland may experience sleety snow showers down to 700-800 meters, while this could extend up to 800-900 meters in Otago and Canterbury regions.

There is a possibility of snow flurries in the highest mountain passes; however, any accumulation is expected to be minimal or negligible.

FROST: Saturday morning is going to be a particularly cold morning for the South Island; below are some town minimum temperature predictions:
